This is so difficult every year with so many deserving causes.
May I ask you to spare a moment to check out (and vote for if you are moved to) Combat Stress Charity Registration No 206002
They provide confidential mental health advice to all current and former military personnel as well as families and carers (who often suffer in silence as they witness their loved ones simply fall apart from PTSD or other mental health conditions caused as a result of their military service).
They go above and beyond the over-stretched mental health services provided by the NHS.
Their workshops are led by service veterans for service veterans and give those suffering mental health issues a chance to talk with others who have also served in the armed forces and who understand the unique nature of combat-related stress.
They change lives for the better enabling those who have served to start living a normal life again.

I would like to nominate the Fire Fighters Charity
These men and women are selfless in their jobs, often putting themselves at great risk and danger for those in need.
OK, it may be an etablished charity but possibly one that is not known to all.
There are many worthwhile charities already named, and the choice is really hard.
However, as grandmother to two adopted children, I know how important it is, and how difficult it can be - especially when a child has had a very disturbed start in life.
I would therefore also like to nominate Adoption UK Charity.
I would like to nominate Sierra Leone Mission which supports schools and churches in Sierra Leone, you can find out more by following this link http://sierraleonemission.org.uk/
