I nominate Shelter.

With winter coming what a terrible time of year to be homeless. Cold, wet and vulnerable.

I would like to nominate British Dyslexia Association for payback charity donations.  This is a charity very close to me and my family.

+1 For me for William's Fund, and I'm very sorry to hear about your son @wills_mum and I hope your charity gets the funding required.

Extraordinarily short window of opportunity to vote for our incredible community charity of choice this time round.

I know what you mean, and we're looking at ways we might be able to extend it. Typically, a week is about the right amount of time for members who regularly visit the community to be able to vote, and the thread tends to get most of its visits from those people in the opening few days. The key moment after that is the day or so after we send the points statement, where people get reminded directly - we tend to see a surge that lasts a day after that being sent out. It's the same with the vote, actually - 90% of votes are cast within a day of the email being sent.

The schedule may stretch depending on when we're able to send the points statement this month, so that we can make sure to allow as many people as possible to nominate - but we also need to balance it with the length of time available for voting, and make sure the final selection is announced before the payback selection window closes.

I'll be away on a break after the 20th until July 1st. If you need something while I'm away, ask an Educator you know or hit me up next month.
You can send me a message and we'll get rolling. Need a topic? Try here.

Thanks for the mention @t_will

The Payback selection window won't close until next month?

Unless I have misunderstood the voting procedures, the votes on this thread would be counted and the two charities with the highest eligible votes win. In effect a self determining result, without the need for deliberation.

You are right that the results need to be announced before the payback window closes. For many, their support will depend on who eventually wins this poll.

Perhaps a later target date could be agreed for concluding the vote and the subsequent counting of the votes.

Another nomination for William's Fund from me.

I've had a look at the website, and watched this video and was moved by your dedication and determination to reach your target @wills_mum (If anyone follows the link, you will need your tissues handy)

I would like to nominate Maggie's Cancer Centres.

The emotional and personal support they offer to people with cancer, at centres based in many UK hospitals, is much more relevant and personable than the approach many other charities in this space take.

Their support has been essential in recent months.

@t_will and all those nominating Will's Fund.

This is not a registered charity. The associated charity is the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable Funds (Register 1057295), making it the eligible nominee.
