You’re always challenging us to improve our goodybags and we’re always looking for ways to improve them too. In February we added unlimited minutes and in March we added +1 GB extra data for when you run out.

But there is still room for improvement and at the moment there are 3 really clear messages coming through from the community:

  1. You think the £5 and £7.50 goodybags should come with more data
  2. Many of you would love a goodybag with a chunk more data
  3. You love Always On data but wish speed reduction didn’t start as early 9 GB

So we put our thinking caps on and challenged ourselves to work out how we can give you more of what you value.

What are the goodybag changes?

In detail, there are 7 changes:

  1. £5 goodybag: The amount of data will increase five-fold, moving from 100 MB to 500 MB
  2. £7.50 goodybag: The amount of data will double, moving from 1 GB to 2 GB
  3. £15 goodybag: The amount of data will increase from 6 GB to 8 GB
  4. £18 goodybag: This will be retired from the list of available goodybags
  5. £20 goodybag: This will change from Always On data to 20 GB.
  6. NEW: There will be a new, improved Always On goodybag for £25, giving you 20 GB of data at full speed and a reduced data speed of 384kbps from 8am to Midnight.
  7. £5 gigabag: The 500 MB data-only gigabag will be retired, as the new £5 goodybag is replacing it.

When do the changes happen?

11 July. From this date, when your next goodybag starts, you’ll simply start to enjoy the new data allowance (if your goodybag is one of the ones that is changing).

What do you need to do?

If you have a £5, £7.50, £15 or £20 recurring goodybag, then nothing, you’ll start to enjoy the new data bundle sizes when your next one starts after 11 July.

If you’re on the £5 gigabag, you’ll automatically be moved to the £5 goodybag. It’ll still work in data-only devices like tablets just fine.

If you’re on the £18 goodybag and have it set to recur we’ll automatically move you to the £15 goodybag as it will now come with 8 GB of data, saving you £3 a month. Or if you’re interested in taking the new 20 GB goodybag for £20 then you can choose that from the 11th July.

What else?

We’re making a change to the length of time non-recurring goodybags last.  We have to date offered up to an extra bonus day on top of the calendar month, depending on the time you bought it.  From the the 11th July they will last a calendar month including the day of purchase.

Our terms and conditions can be found here and will be updated to reflect this change on 11th July.

Recurring goodybags and queued goodybags are unaffected by the change.

What next?

As well as this post we are contacting all affected members by email or SMS on 11th June. We've written up a new Knowledge Base article detailing all the nitty-gritty as well.

In the meantime, please post your thoughts and questions on this thread and we’ll pop by regularly to answer questions.

We hope you agree these changes are good step forward. Thanks for choosing giffgaff.

It's great to see that giffgaff are updating their price tiers to keep up with the continuously evolving smartphone market. I'm sure many, many people will be pleased with the changes outlined above, a bigger data allowance is never a bad thing, great work guys 👍

Im sure back in the good old days... £15 was all it took on giffgaff to get unlimited data, calls n texts was it not? I realise we're now getting longer before the reduced speeds but were they really that much of a problem? Anyone with any sence would just save any heavy downloads for an evening or WiFi no? Just seems a £10 increase in just a couple of years for what's basically the same goodybag is a bit steep no? Guess I'll have to make sure I set my goodybag to recur each month (but then isn't that the same as a contract? The thing were told is bad lol) am I the only one who thinks £25's a bit steep for mobile data? I don't spend that on broadband
