How many "emergencies" do your parents have?! My Mum tops up just £10 "a year" on Giffgaff PAYG (I kid you not)! Probably less than 2 mins of calls a week (plus the 3 months FREE Giffgaff to Giffgaff).

Your parents would be better off on PAYG O2 or Three...

Many non-smart phones don't seem to be compatible with the Three network for some reason?!

@whitespace

Three will not support any 2G-only device. It must be 3G or 4G.

@ktwite67,

If you're using your phone just for emergencies then it would be cheaper and better to just use the PAYG rates and not worry about goodybags, because the credit will be there when you need it.
Or grab an O2 Classic PAYG SIM or 3 321 SIM, they both offer dirt cheap PAYG rates, ideal for emergency usage (though you'll still need to use your phone every 6 months).

ID Mobile use the 3 Network anyway, though I'd err on the side of caution in case 3 give less priority to ID customers.

Also ID Mobile (and therefore 3UK) is 3G and 4G only, no 2G network, which means that older phones with no 2G support won't work on there (most phones will though, you can get 3G basic phones cheaply as well).

But Giffgaff's 150 minutes / 500MB data is only £1 more than ID Mobile (Giffgaff = £5 goodybag) and you get community support and Payback as well, and O2 are advertising they have the best UK coverage. So really not worth switching from the £5 goodybag to ID.

I've just signed up to iD Mobile; the £12 goodybag just isn't as competitive as it once was anymore.

I'll literally be getting just over double the data (12gb) for the same price that I pay now. I recur my goodybag already so a rolling 30 day contract is perfectly fine.

I hope you enjoy your new network @thom_horne ! Smiley Happy

I hope giffgaff look at this and improve their goodybags.
I have seen a lot of people leave recently to other networks such as iD, Smarty, 3, VOXI, etc

i love the always on data plan and i always get this but as a heavy user i can use this in 4 days with just watching youtube playing games music netflix the lot *You've used all your 20 GB data at full speed.
If you are in the EU, after you have used 20gb you will be charged at 0.6p per MB 22 days left

but im sure it was also 25gb as well not 20gb last time i looked

is their not any way of buying more data if you run out to add onto the 20gb and for the people who say just use wifi

we can only get 1 compnay were i am and their prices are stupid but only offer 2mbps were giffgaff its 35mbps

can you please add something to allow a extra data plan on top of the £25 deal or even offer a true unlimited internet for like £35 a month with no limit or anything as when you rely on the internet and have kids who eat data to it soon goes fast

You have confused the price and the contents I think. The price in pounds is 25 but the basic data of the £25 goodybag in GB is and has always been 20.

From the "more info" on the goodybags page:

How it works

Always On data
With Always On you get 20GB of data at full 4G speed.
