You have a phone but the text messaging isn't working. What do you do? Try the following steps.

More information

Check the signal strength in the status bar to make sure your device is connected to a network. If the signal is weak or you have no signal, move to an open location free from obstructions, or get close to a window.

Check the device memory and memory card to see if memory is available. If the memory is full, remove messages or other files to free up space.

To view the status of your memory

  1. From your Home screen, tap the "Settings" icon.
  2. Find and tap "Settings" > "Storage" to view the status of your memory.

To delete a message

  1. From your Home screen, tap the "Settings" icon, then find and tap the "Messaging" icon.
  2. Tap the conversation containing the message you want to delete.
  3. Touch and hold the message you want to delete, then tap "Delete message" > "Delete".

To delete conversations

  1. From your Home screen, tap the "Settings" icon, then find and tap the "Messaging" icon.
  2. Press the "Menu" icon, then tap "Delete conversations".
  3. Mark the checkboxes for the conversations that you want to delete, then tap the bin icon > "Delete".

Use the full phone number when you send a message. When you enter the country code, use “+” instead of “00″. Touch and hold “0″ to add a “+”.
