Hi folks, there's a quick bit of maintenance on text messages between 00:01 and 01:00 on Feb 7th. If yours don't send, wait a few minutes and try again.

Hi everyone,

 

Between 00:01 and 01:00 on Feb 7th we're doing a bit of maintenance on our text services. This means that for a period of about five minutes, texts that you send might fail or be a little bit delayed. If you do see this happening, just hold off for a minute or two before trying again - but hopefully you'll be asleep and it won't affect you.

Is this maintenance expected to have any effect on the problems that several people have experienced previously with being charged for several deliveries of the same short text?

Nope this was not related to the issue. The investigations are still ongoing with that one and hopefully will get some progress as soon as possible.

Thanks @aggy_agate it's useful to know that the issue is recognised and is being worked on.

 

I know you don't like posting about issues when you don't have any good news, but shouldn't it have a thread of its own where possible work-rounds could be discussed?

 

There is a thread about this on Contribute at https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Tips-Guides/Duplicate-SMS-Send-Issue-Workarounds/m-p/19366146#M149... which was started in October 2016, though the problem was being reported long before that.
