Zobia22 has asked us bloggers to fill in a bit of information about ourselves and share it with the community as this was something you all wanted to read about to help you get to know us a bit better. Today it’s my turn to delve in and share some details about my own life.

Introduction

note-5.jpg

Whilst I’m known on here as Zerodudex333, my real name is Ollie - I’ve been with giffgaff since 2010. I remember back then the internet was free because the infrastructure for charging internet just wasn’t in place yet! I loved the community aspect of giffgaff and I got involved with the Off Topic (now called General Discussion) section and helped out in the other areas right away.

I felt a great sense of enjoyment. Eventually, after seeing the input I put into my content on the community, Zobia got in touch to ask if I’d like to write a blog for giffgaff! Since then I’ve been writing regularly on the blog and it’s been a great experience.

I focus mainly on app reviews, and my monthly ‘top apps and games’ blogs feature the app store highlights of each month (check out July’s top apps and games here). As you could probably guess, I’m a huge geek when it comes to smartphones. Not only do the devices themselves fascinate me, but the whole industry often keeps me interested. My favourite, most creative writing pieces are usually about the smartphone industry and my opinions on certain elements within it.

Some fun facts about me

My career path may be a little different from the norm but it’s something I’ve been able to embark on after following my passion, and I absolutely love that. I am currently a freelance writer and I write for all sorts of clients across the world. I write specifically on mobile, gadgets and video game content as this is where my passion lies.

Being a freelance writer is a different world to working for a company or a business - I have to take the responsibility to find new clients, show them I can provide them good work and then of course create the good work they are expecting. So far it’s been a great journey and I’m looking forward to seeing how it could develop in the future.

As somebody who has a great passion for phones, I thought I’d talk a little about my smartphone history. My first smartphone was an Android device, named the Orange San Francisco. I remember unlocking it online and then rooting it. After that I had a blast installing custom ROMs and tweaking around with the operating system. I still remember my favourite

ROM name, Swedish Springs. After the Orange San Francisco, I picked up the HTC One X. From there I moved onto the Galaxy S4. That year I also picked up an iPhone 5 for work on iOS app reviewing. Recently I just purchased an LG G4 - my favourite phone so far!

Where I am now

Right now I am working full time as a freelance writer. A lot of my time goes into thinking up topic ideas relating to the mobile industry and then of course writing them up. I do write a little bit about video games too and this is where a huge amount of my passion lies, perhaps even more so than in mobiles and gadgets.

My favourite video game is currently Counter Strike: Global Offensive. I’ve spent perhaps a few hundred too many hours in that franchise growing up, but it’s a game I absolutely love. Do you play video games? I’d love to hear your top favourite games or franchises of all time. My top favourite games are Counter Strike, Halo, and Metal Gear Solid.

Where I’m going in the future

Recently I’ve been thinking over my current options and looking at what I’d like to do going forward; there are a few ideas I’m turning over in my head and I’m really excited for what the future holds.

One thing that rings very strongly with me is the desire to go travelling. I’d love to explore the world, experience everything I possibly can with my life and meet new people along the way. One of my goals is to travel between as many countries as possible.

Of course doing something like that would cost a bit of cash, so it’s something I have to put the time and effort into first before I even get to experience the results. But if there’s anything you’d like to reach for in life, I wholeheartedly believe that you should follow your heart, take chances and if you really, truly want something, be dedicated to reach it.

So there we have it! That’s me! Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll be happy to answer!

@zerodudex333 If you want to travel for a longer period of time, I would recommend going to developing regions of the world which are generally cheaper, such as East Asia, Latin America, parts of Africa, etc. I find the experience of visiting developing countries far more interesting than Western Europe or North America. Also, many developing countries have seriously old histories and cultures, which are pretty cool to check out.

I remember the orange san francisco being the phone of choice for giffgaffers, any time someone asked for a recommend that was the answer. 100mb free data everyday was great at the time but it ended just weeks after I bought my first smart.

Interesting blog.

Hey Ollie! Great blog, lovely to learn a bit more about you. How interesting that you're a freelance writer Smiley Happy I bet that's very rewarding, doing something you love as your career. When did you decide to get into that? And what's first on your list of countries to travel to?

Your 1st phone was an Android offering. Scary as my 1st phone was 19 years ago and could only last 16 hours in standby. We've come a long way since the Dancall DC1!

Good luck with your writing.

Nice!
