The first thing to note about the Orange San Francisco, is the price point, available from around £110 - £119 it is easily one of the more affordable Android handsets. What’s more the Orange San Francisco is a very feature rich handset, so whilst you may want to keep your purchase price low, you don’t have to skimp on quality – proven by supported features such as 3G, WiFi, GPS functionality and its 3.5 inch LCD screen with a massive 800 X 480 pixels.
The main let down of the San Francisco is the slightly poor camera/camcorder quality at 3.2 megapixels with no flash.
The Orange San Francisco is sold with a slightly disappointing Orange branded interface, including Orange’s own mail client and an expensive App shop; in addition to a number of ‘space wasting’ custom apps. The good news is that you can remove all of this customisation and replace apps with your desired apps and display. (Ask the community how to Root your Orange San Francisco).
The screen seems to be the main talking point due to its responsiveness, great colour and nice clear, sharp text. The San Francisco also boasts micro SD support for up to 32 GB, and a 2GB card included. In terms of the battery life, it’s nothing to write home about but is perfectly adequate for moderate usage for the day. A great entry-level Android for those on a budget.
