Your 5 A Day [6th January]

former giff-staffer

5 a day is a daily thread/blog giving you 5 juicy links to entertain, teach or share. Every Saturday - Thursday in Off-Topic and every Friday on the Blog. 4pm!

1. This is a 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter with each key covered in a different coloured paint. It was created by Tyree Callahan to make painting as simple as typing. You can read more about it at Flavorwire

2. Love this version of this song - beautiful delivery! Walk off the Earth and Sarah Blackwood perform a cover of Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know" using five people on one guitar.

3. Ok the bio for this awesome video - "Here is a short footage on our recent work on quantum levitation. We were inspired by the game Wipe'out to do our work. With this new technology, we hope to revolutionize the world of motor transport; Maybe in a near future we could assist to a real Wipe'out race." The questions is FAKE OR REAL? What do you think?

4. They appear to hover in the air – like strange nebulae or giant, brilliant-coloured amoebae – or ghosts – captivating to the eye yet strangely ethereal. When we think of sculpture we might tend to imagine solid, unmoving objects, but Janet Echelman specialises in ‘living’ sculptures; enormous suspended artworks that seem to breathe, often animated by air currents – so that such elemental forces themselves become integral to the artworks.

Wow, normally a couple of entries in the 5 a day stand out as extra special but today everything is cool, I want one of those printers, I'm going to get my guitar out right now, quantum levitation is just amazing and really needs to be used practically, i want to see that exhibit, kids know exactly what they're saying all the time and are playing dumb
