Hi @aliceejrea this is the single most popular idea in Labs. It has been marked as "Not for us" by giffgaff but if we keep voting for it, who knows, maybe they will reconsider.
Vote for it here,
P.s. as far as I am aware there is no technical reason why giffgaff cannot offer a £5 top up. Lycamobile run on the O2 network and they offer a £5 top up.
@aliceejrea Hello, I know that Giffgaff have said this idea is " not for us", but I think it would be great if we could get £5 minimum top up. It would be very useful in situations such as you've mentioned, but also for people who, at times, might not be able to afford more than £5 credit / goodybag. Perhaps their hands are tied by o2, I'm not sure.
Why can't the minimum top-up be £5 or even any amount. I have a goodbag so only need a minimal amount of credit and I don't want to lose £10 to my account that will never be used.
@aliceejrea That's not possible as minimum top up of airtime is £10, it's has been suggested in the past though ....... seeing as you mentioned that you only need a minimal amount of credit, and you didn't mention what goodybag you usually buy,
why not for example:
add £10 airtime, buy £5 from it and leave the extra fiver as credit
add £10 airtime, buy £7.50 goodybag and leave the £2.50 as credit
add £15 airtime, buy the £10 or £12 goodybag and leave the remaining as airtime
etc etc for the other £15, £20 and £25 goodybags, you could leave the £5 extra on account then just switch on the recurring (if you wish)?
You need to switch off recurring goodybags temporarily if you do any of the above.
You wouldn't lose the extra money on account provided you keep your sim active and not dormant without use or top up for 6 months, £10 is rather a lot to have sitting there on account but you could make that £5 or less, emergency credit on account is always handy to have. 🙂
