Why has noting happened in nearly a year? How do we escalate this. It’s really important, easy to fix and cheap.

Is this why iOS 12 will not connect to the LONDON underground WiFi automatically?

Hi @davidrawle Have you tried all the troubleshooting tips? If not, redo all your settings. First remove the giffgaff app, then On your phone go to Settings~General~Reset~Reset network settings then pressing

This will cause the phone to restart automatically. This refreshes your settings.

Once above is done, reinstall the giffgaff app and reinstall WiFi Extra profile from the app.

See this link for details https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/WiFi-with-giffgaff/ta-p/19688961

If above don’t help, raise a ticket with the agents. Some have reported this on here with no solution in sight so report to agents. The more reports to the agents the better. I hope above fixes it.

I understand it works ok with Android.  Maybe it is Apple who are the sticking point on the issue.  They do take a North Korean apprach to openess when it comes to apps and their app store.

You have missed the point.

Your security certificate expired more than a year ago... It needs renewing so that anyone using that certificate can know its you (Telefonica, actually).

Security certificates are there for a reason - security. If you can't be bothered to keep them up-to-date, it says a lot about GiffGaff and how seriously it takes security. It costs an almost insignificant amount of money to renew.

@davidrawle The Wi-Fi extra feature is built into the My Giffgaff App (under Feedback and Settings - there's a toggle where you can turn ON/OFF).

Please ensure you have the latest version of My Giffgaff App installed on your iPhone here https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/my-giffgaff/id571246020?mt=8

For the complete guide on Wi-Fi Extra feature, please follow this link to view https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/WiFi-with-giffgaff/ta-p/19688961

In regards the 1GB boost data, Unfortunately, the extra 1GB of data currently only shown on the mobile or desktop site here http://www.giffgaff.com/dashboard the app hasn't been updated to show the extra 1GB of data. For more details on the extra 1GB boost data check out this https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/Data-boosted-with-an-extra-GB/ta-p/21629928knowledge base link

@davidrawle Wifi extra will only work with the official giffgaff app, when the app menu shows that it is switched on. Does it?

What happens if the certificate is expired or not verified? Will the WiFi Extra work?

Yes, it will work if you have already installed the old certificate.

The certificate is something we renew every year and you may find yourself trying to install WiFi Extra with a version of the app which has the expired certificate - if so, simply update the app to the latest version and install WiFi Extra.

If you are not happy that the certificate is showing as "Not Verified", you can remove the old profile by going to Settings - General - Profiles - 'WiFi Extra' - and simply select "Remove Profile". Then, please install the latest version of the 'my giffgaff app' available for your device. and reinstall WiFi Extra.

To avoid undue alarm, it's also important to note that expired certificate warnings DO NOT mean the connection becomes unsecured.

I have no idea how to update a screenshot on here but it clearly says that the certificate is unverified in red when you try to install WiFi Extra - it expired on 31 January 2018

My app is totally up-to-date. I am a very experienced iOS user.

I have even deleted the app and re-installed from the app store today - 10 Feb 2019.

This strange argument is actually worrying me. GiffGaff do not seem to have any concern that they are installing an expired certificate on everyone's iphone.
