Twice a short time ago I contributed to a thread which was questioning the requirement to remove the adult filter. I pointed out that the Three network will accept an online refundable 99p credit card payment to achieve this and simply stated that it seemed a sensible and adequate requirement. Although I received a 'Posted!' message, on both occasions the post appears to have been instantly removed. Was the whole thread locked or was my reply instantly censored and, if so, why?

Hi @lynmouth1 if your post was removed you should receive a private message explaining what has happened and why, if you have not you might want to contact an agent to find out why.

If the post disappeared with a few seconds of you submitting it, the culprit will be the automatic spam filter.

The filter is deliberately quite aggressive to attempt to block genuine spam, but can pick on other posts for seemingly no reason at all.

A quick message to the educators using the 'report content' link (via the 3 dots in the opening post of the thread) will get the post checked and reinstated.

I do see two of your posts in a thread related to the adult filter. Are they the ones you are asking about?

None of the messages in that thread are marked as edited (by the poster or by giffgaff) but:

  • that thread is in Contribute, not H&S
  • the thread might have been moved from Help and Support if the original poster misposted it there.
  • I can't find any trace of a message about a 99p refundable card payment, but its rare that messages are deleted entirely. If it posed a Help question rather than relating to the discussion, it might have been separated (because help threads should always be about a single problem) and still be in Help somewhere.

For future reference, you can get a list of recent posts from a particular user, by clicking on their avatar. Yours goes to

Hi @lynmouth1

I'm Paul one of the educators here on the giffgaff community.

I'm sorry your posts didn't quite make it onto the community last night / early this morning,  I'm afraid they did get caught by our spam filter but have since been released as soon as we noticed your posts whilst doing our routine checks.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused. If you would like to discuss this matter further please feel free to PM me at any time.

Hope  a great evening.

Hi thx all for the advice. @paul_d_ thx for confirming that the post has now been released - I am looking for it but fear it has become buried in the mass of older posts - never mind - I accept it was blocked by an over aggressive spam filter :0)
