Perhaps we need an official definition of what Giffgaff consider ‘any old crap’ too. That phrase is certainly open to interpretation and differing perceptions.

I have always reported bad language and seem to have had acknowledgements for the majority of those reports.

Bearing in mind that there are young people using the forums, it is never acceptalbe (in my view) to use bad language.

In a number of cases that language has been "beeped" by the auto-filter already (and I do realise that the filter can be wrong sometimes), but I think this is still worth a report as the poster of such text clearly needs "education".

For the record, I cannot see why it was necessary to use the word "crap" in the first place.

From personal experience, the employees (and that is exactly what they are despite any fancy title) seem very quick to "jump" on a member if anything direct and to the point is written without cosseting the text in warm, fuzzy terms, and yet they are far more prone to allow bad language in postings; funny old world, isn't it?!

I'm not sure why you think the two are related. They're two distinct statements.

1: We ask you not to report posts that would be considered 'pointless' by Help standards when they appear in GD.
2: Staff do not post, or encourage posting, content on the community solely intended to generate view count.

All i want is clarification on what not to report in GD. Are you telling us that GD is actually for pointless posting, as the guide says;

"you should not report posts in the Social: General Discussion board for being pointless, that's the point of this board".

Because if it is, then at least those of us that have made threads asking for GD to be tidied up, can then stop trying to make it better and accept that the pointless posting will carry on regardless.

There is a vast amount of pointless text posted everywhere I believe.

Much of it comes under the title "Social Media".

I suspect that the whole argument revolves around one's viewpoint of what is worth posting and what is not.

Dare I suggest that it is a generational issue?

I don't know what it is @freedmaniac , but if pointless posting is what they want, and what they expect, then it's all working out rather well for them.

Does it seriously matter? What happened to freedom of speech? If you don't like what you read move on to another thread. Sorry disagree that some think to enjoy being cagney and Lacey and press report content button if it's a gameshow like catchphrase playing the gg police. Last time I heard the forums are owned by giffgaff and not Cagney and lacey what if a thread is not to your taste or to your language  the internet is full of similar chit feel some got nothing better to do than press catchphrase button to say what they see to get some power trick...power lording forums just puts people off and cause splits

I fully accept your comment that if a thing is not to my taste, i should simply ignore it and move on.

I do not accept your comment about foul language; just because the internet is full of it, does not make it right.

There are plenty of crimes out there every day but that does not make it right!

Perhaps those who can only resort to foul language and insults out to be put off.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but don't forget that there are still plenty of things that you cannot say, and quite rightly so.

My point is that the moderation of the forums should look at all aspects equally; I don't believe that this is currently the case.
