Seeing as the iPad has enough screen estate to use the full browser versions of websites, its a little annoying that the forums default to the mobile version using the iPad.

I know all that has to be done is for iPad users to click 'desktop' at the bottom of the screen but is it the iPad software or giffgaff that sets this to default to the mobile site?

If its giffgaff, would you be able to change it so the forums default to the full browser version for the iPad?

all you need to do is visit:

http://community.giffgaff.com/?device-view=desktop, it'll always default to the desktop version..

OR

http://community.giffgaff.com/?device-view=mobile, it'll always default to the mobile version..
Thanks

I think it's the forum software lithium that defaults it, so I think it'd probably be in the coding somewhere hidden away.

One problem here is although this is a great idea, the full version of the forum doesn't work in Safari on the iPad or iPhone.

Try it - browsing the forum is great, but in the full version if you try to reply, you can't get the cursor to appear in the reply box. I asked about this in the Apple Store, and was told it must be down to the coding used in the forum software not being compatible with the mobile version of Safari, which is what the iPad uses.

Yes, I remember that now come to think of it. I did get round it somehow but have forgotton how. Maybe it was that 'quick reply' worked.

I'll try it next time I'm using the site on the iPad.

The only way that you can do a post on the iPad on the full site is by going on HTML and typing in there, otherwise it wont allow you to type.

+the mobile site is much quicker.

Do you have a blackberry? Are you frustrated with blackberry services on giffgaff? THEN CLICK HERE!

I have the full version on the iPad.    Go to the bottom of the forum page on the iPad when in mobile mode and you will see the option there to have either mobile or full.....When typing a reply just make it HTML by hitting the HTML button in the reply box...

Happy viewing.....
