If you get a text purporting to be from giffgaff, do not use the dubious link.
It asks you to log in, potentially capturing your password. It then says your password failed.
Then it instructs to:-
Date of birth etc.
An Educator is on the case so best thing is to ignore the link until we hear it is secure.
Just wanted to add to this and thank the community for being all over this. We have not had anything official through for this yet but the website that is in the SMS looks very dubious to me. Do not click it.
If you do see anyone coming into the community wanting advice etc then please give them the most appropriate advice that you can. If the link is actually posted then please let us know as we don't want to direct any traffic over there.
@dez_d despite the dodgy website being shut down this scam has re emerged this morning at Twitter with the URL of the phishing site slightly changed to just prom-giffgaff dot com.
I didn't spot that just the "o" had been removed from the URL to create a new one but luckily another eagle eyed giffgaffer who was helping other members at Twitter this morning did so I thought it best to pass the info on here.
I saw this really early this morning and I've already alerted the rest of the team to the issue. It's looking like a busy one today so if there is a bit of silence from me then you will know why.
