its a way of saying thanks to someone who has been helpful

someone who has answered your question satisfactory

its a nice gesture more than anything

and personally when i receive them it gives sense of pride in helping out

By clicking the yellow star beside someone's post it is a way of saying thanks or just agreeing with someone Smiley Happy

Addition: giving and receiving kudos also contributes to the payback band you're classed in - but remember it isn't all about kudos, so don't go kudos mad like some people do lol Smiley Wink

Ok but do you actually get anything out of it? (except pride which by the way I have no problem with!)

In theory it should also let users see the quality of replies to a question, with 'better' replies receiving more kudos. Doesn't quite work though.

Also there is another feature called "mark as solved", where in a question you select the most helpful response and mark it as the problem solver - see this thread for more info Smiley Wink
