I was just curious as to know how many (roughly) activated SIM cards there are through giffgaff, as there are a lot of people who don't know who giffgaff are over from where I come from. Ta

User ID numbers are a tad over 4,500 now so, assuming every ID took up the option of a SIM, that would be around 4,500.

However, many accounts posting in the forum did not go on to activate a SIM, and some which did may have left, reducing that number - and all this assumes anyway that the first account was numbered 001 with all later ones following-on consecutively.

The true figure is probably "commercially sensitive information" but, in the absence of a factual reply from giffgaff, my guess would be somewhere around the 2-2,500 mark.

I stress that I have no sensible data to support that guesstimate though.

Regards

To know the exact number of activated SIMs you can check your SIM order number - that's the actual number of SIM ordered to date ( on the date of your order obviously)

I don't think you can check the exact number activated - that would be the number of sims that had been ordered, surely.

The number of people in the forums is by no means related to the number of active sims we have.

A lot of people who order and activate a sim, unfortunately never visit the forums Smiley Sad

I'd love to get everyone involved, but sadly there are still people who we never hear from.

the user ID in the forum is an easy to use tracker of how many people joined the community which anyone can access on a regular basis.

However the order number when your order your SIM or send a SIM to a friend should give the exact number of users exception made of the ones who left or who's SIMs have been disactivated which I'm guessing right now is close to zero but long term that won't be an exact indicator either but by then I'd hope GG becomes big enough to announce publicly how many active users there is

Very true, but you only 'register' on the community once you actually go into the forums etc. Which means you must have logged in and then spend time on our boards.

Like I said, unfortunately not everyone does this.

Which means these people have signed up for a sim, activated and are happily using it, but they never show up as a forum ID.

A good example of this is my wife, both my sets of neighbours and my parents in law, who I've all signed up, but who will likely never show up on the forums.

So that's 7 people right there that you'll never see and there are a lot more people like this.

It's not the way giffgaff would like to see it working as we'd like to get everyone involved, but of course not everyone is necessarily interested in getting so involved with their mobile company.

There are also some people registered on this forum who have no intention of activating a giffgaff sim...

That's okay, I'm sure we'll convince them at some point Smiley Happy
