@timo_t

@gregg_b

@aggy_agate

Can we have some clarification on this please??

Three years ago former giffgaff educator gurupandit told us that old sim cards never expire and instead will take a little longer than normal to activate but will activate.

See https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Contribute/Unactivated-SIMs-expiry/m-p/8603062/highlight/true#M233... for his post confirming this.

However the other day a customer posted onto Facebook that she couldn't activate her sim and as you can see from https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157030490010717&id=287613300716 and the pictures below the official reply from giffgaff now states that gurupandit is wrong.

So who is right??

If the giffgaff employee on Facebook is correct then why has nothing been mentioned on the community???

Hey all,

Had a quick chat here and yeah, we don't pre-activate SIMs as standard so nothing has changed here.

Since I only have that screengrab, I can't really see the member name of the person of FB to check if they had potentially received a pre-activated SIM from another member/Super Recruiter but regardless, the advice there is a bit confusing.

I'll forward this over to the agents to have a look-see and verify that we're giving out the right information.

Cheers,

Timo

@c_research

Yes true but if the giffgaff employee on Facebook is correct them we need to know however if they are wrong then they need educating to prevent wrong information from being given out as fact.

my understanding was that you can activate them but can't use them for a sim swap after 6 months.

@natty88 mate I ain't disagreeing with you. But I would like giffgaff to confirm/deny this either way.

Because the staff need training if this IS wrong so that they don't confuse matters.

@1hale An interesting Question your ask, I have had sims still activate well over a year, as for sim swap I have also hear it's 6 months. So some clarification on this will be interesting?.
