  • I have been using giffgaff unlimited everything for a month and a half and I have decided to leave as the speed of the data is so poor after you go over the 6gb 4g data allowance that you can't stream any videos on any app or browser. This is very disappointing and I will be avoiding giffgaff and telling everyone I know to do the same. Paying £20 a month for 256kbs once you go over the 6gb allowance is very unfair and if giffgaff had been upfront about the speed of the data I would never have joined. I hope no one else makes the mistake of joining this company for the data as I have and hopefully some will see this post and stay away.

@diavel126 Where did you hear about giffgaff out of curiosity? It is a common misconception that the always on goodybag is truly unlimited and it really does need to be found out the buyer journey to see where this confusion/potential misinformation is coming from.

as you have found out, £20 bag is NOT unlimited everything

it is "always on"

and as you have discovered you only get 6gb as usable data, after 6gb data speed is restricted to 256kbps, (which is less than 3g) between 8am - midnight, also it is not really set up as a replacement for broadband internet, after all it is only a PAYG mobile phone service?

gg are upfront, although they don't make is very easy to read the info, but it's there

good luck with your new service

@diavel126

The unlimited data ended in January 2016, long before you joined giffgaff.  You read unlimited minutes and unlimited texts and assumed it was unlimited everything.

When you have used ul the 6GB you are free to buy another goodybag straight away.  Unless you need more than 2000 minutes before you've used up the 6GB I would recommend saving £2 and getting the £18 goodybag instead.

I joined in December and I do have unlimited data it's just that after using 6gb the data speed is reduced but they forgot to mention that it gets reduced to 256kbs which if I had known beforehand I would never have joined giffgaff

@diavel126

They no longer call it unlimited data.  We have campaigned for this misleading word to be removed, since they are unable to provide truly unlimited data.

If you dial *100*7# to see your goodybag minutes balance. you'll find that it started at 45,000 minutes.  Now that is what I call truly unlimited - there are less than 45,000 minutes in 31 days.

@diavel126 the asterix against the £20 goodybag on the goodybag selection page http://giffgaff.com/sim-only-plans is there for a reason! Smiley Wink

I do not work for giffgaff, so cannot check anything on your account. This is a public community - please do not post any personal info.
