"....we’ll be trying to bring more communication channels into the mix, for those of you out there that like to venture outside the forums (like a private Facebook group coming soon), but don’t worry. No matter where you feel more comfortable chatting to us, you’ll still get the full story and the same benefits."
I agree, we shouldn't be using facebook in site links or emails unless the link is very clearly identified as being a facebook link.
But equally, we shouldn't have google-hosted code or services in web pages -- but the page you're reading presently has at least one google service or link:
Google may, or may not, be worse that facebook but we should always presume "it's google, therefore it's spyware".
It also seems to be completely unnecessary -- I'm blocking it, and the page is working fine.
Its high time every webmaster adopted a strict "no third party code or services unless it's carefully vetted open source and rehosted on our own servers" policy.
Remember before it reaches the website, the data is stored on dns for how long they like, I created a guide here - https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Tips-Guides/Make-your-home-internet-feel-faster-Honest/td-p/218111...
that is a move to dns that does gurantee of not storing that data.
But I do agree data should be agreed upon to be shared not taken.
