I've always had this problem with Skype calling on giffgaff. As if the traffic was getting deliberately stalled during the call resulting in the other side being able to hear me and myself listening to nothing bur silence. Funny that once routed via VPN, Skype calls were "all go", same giffgaff network, same location, etc.

So, being in Greece now, I've decided to test it once again.

Got EE sim, got giffgaff sim, both roaming on Wind, both on 4G. Speedtest is showing about 30mbps on each sim with ping around 100ms on both, give or take.

And it's the very exact same. Skype calls stall on giffgaff, yet work fine on EE.

The only difference were APNs through which all the traffic went - giffgaff's and EE's respectively.

Hence my suspicion with giffgaff (or, perhaps, O2 for certain types of users) being not the best friends with certain types of traffic.

I am guessing giffgaff doesnt use the same quality of service that maybe ee uses?

you didnt actualy think you would be able to use your data that you have payed for.

it should be noted that giffgaff to giffgaff video calls are free

@sandramoakley6

Please can you give us a reference showing that GG to GG video calls are free?

@sandramoakley6 I was kinda hoping that yeah, if I paid for data, it's mine to use for whatever I want with no restrictions. Guess I haven't fully learned the giffgaff way Smiley Happy

@niqq sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Speeds and ping times in Greece (same roaming partner) were approx the same for both giffgaff and EE and certainly more than sufficient for Skype calls.

APNs through which traffic is routed is the only difference I can think of.

Hi everyone. Can anybody tell me how can I record skype calls on my smartphone? On my desctop computer I use www.movavi.com/support/how-to/how-to-record-skype-calls.html so I'd like to find something similar but for Android. If you know a good app, share it please because I am tired of searching already. All the app's I've found aren't just working properly. Some issues with sound or video quality appear and I need perfect working software.

@creetyy I couldn't tell you how to record Skype calls on your smartphone but I'd really appreciate an advice on how to get Skype calls working on giffgaff without VPN as I have tried everything ))
