It's wonderful to be blessed with a long life, but one of the penalties of getting older is that you can get into spending too much time sitting and not getting enough exercise ... so I try to walk for a few kilometers several times a week.  One of the routes that I've been treading recently finishes in Ueno Park, the oldest pubic park in Japan.  In the dark evenings of winter the history of the park is celebrated by lining  the main avenue with small lanterns at floor level.  Really lovely ... and a nice reward at the end of the walk.

How lovely.  Yep us oldies need to keep moving otherwise one day, we'll be stuck in that chair. Smiley LOL

@tokyobuta More lovely photos, I agree we need exercise my hubby and I try to go to the gym 3 times a week but haven’t been able for 3 months due to ongoing illnesses, going back tomorrow hopefully.🤗

How beautiful they are. I manage to keep active as I have a small demanding dog, we go to our local park but we do not have any lighting in there so have to go before the sun sets

Our parks tend to close with darkness and sadly, the local lowlife would smash anything beautiful.

You are right @tokyobuta we need to use it or lose it. Sadly, agree with @majorincident the scum would kick those beautiful lanterns and smash them, just goes to show the different culture.
