So in 2013 August 14th I made the decision to stop drinking. Was it hard? Very!

It was a long scary journey with no support from my family, in 2015 I met my partner she's amazing so supportive my rock.

6yrs later I'm still sober and loving life. Anybody struggling with alcoholism please don't be afraid to speak to someone, AA helped me and are still helping.

Congratulations @sharo03282....I've been dry for over 25 years, I don't count the days anymore, if I had known I was going to live this long I definitely would have looked after myself more....I'm 69 next month , thankfully I traveled the world before the demon drink caught up with me.

well done you!

difficult when surrounded by availability but after a while you wonder why ever did it?

i hate hangovers and barely drink these days, is expensive and fattening and doesn't bring out the best in people.. most drink/ drugs are ugly things really and you notice it when not in same state as others.

plenty of other things to spend money on.

don't understand why people do spice/ heroin and all those addictive things, seems like a one-way ticket though I stopped smoking for 5 years at one point so maybe it is possible to stop.
