A taxi is not exempt from the speed limit, and any taxi that you saw doing more than the speed limit was breaking the law.

Because they are looked on as part of the public transport system and have to pay to get a license. They also have to be maintained to a higher standard than a private car.


Also, it does depend on the bus lane, if taxies are allowed in it. If it doesn't have the word Taxies on the big blue sign, then they aren't.
