"

On 21 January 2019 a total lunar eclipse will be visible  ~

Those in the UK will be able to see every part of the eclipse as long as they are willing to stay up all night! The Moon will start to enter the Earth’s shadow just after 2:30am GMT and the maximum eclipse will occur just before 5:15am. The entire eclipse lasts for more than five hours, ending at 7:48am.

The optimal viewing time to see the eclipse is between 4:41am – 5:43am. This is the period of totality, where the moon lies entirely in the Earth’s umbra (full shadow) and will appear red. "

Will you be staying up to watch?

I probably will.

Cheers @revjonty

Will I stay up ? Probably not but I may get a little earlier to have a quick look and then back to sleep for an hour 😊

I won't be up for the whole thing, but I'll get up early to view...now hoping for clear skies.

Well in Oxfordshire, looking at the forecast it might just be visible...if you’re a pilot of a commercial airliner flying at 20,000’ . Smiley Sad

I may well get up for the optimum period in the early hours, although knowing my luck I'll actually sleep through the lot!

I will probably be awake but going outside, nah.

The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars but in ourselves.

The moon is nicely visible for me at the moment, weather (pun intended) it will still be visible later is another matter!

I've dusted off my venerable old fuji s2 pro camera and sigma 80-300. Unfortunately I've left my d200 (plus fuji s3) and most of my camera gear elsewhere, so can't use it.
If I get any good shots I may upload.

Feel free too add any shots you get to this thread.

I'm getting myself wrapped up warm in long johns and layers, and heading out onto the moors now.
Camera. Check
Thermals. Check
Kelly kettle. Check
Crate of beer. Check
