The government has quietly awarded infamous Capita a 10year, £1bln, outsourcing NHS contract.

Purely for ideological reasons. Between Christmas and New Year. How convenient.

For those who don't know, this is Capita:

Capita's is possibly best known for its mismanagement of the Criminal Records Bureau. For failing to check teachers' records on time it was eventually fined £2 million.

Capita also ran the, now defunct, Independent Learning Accounts (ILAs) which were supposed to give financial support to adult learners. The ILA scheme was scrapped after it went £60 million over budget And a subsidiary, Capita Financial Administrators (CFA), was recently fined £300,000 for having poor anti-fraud controls by the Financial Services Authority.

Capita also played a central part in the Arch Cru investment scandal, which saw investors lose millions.

For some...

It's pay-walled so I cannot read it. I gues OP has a sub.

Oddly there are tweets with this very title ("Capita wins £1bn NHS contract to oversee administration") from 2015

@tradertall my daughter works for the NHS as an occupational therapist, she got so dissatisfied with the cut backs that she retrained as a Oedema therapist. Even my eye specialist retired early cos of cutbacks. We have 2 small hospitals in the forest and fat cats have voted for them to be closed and  new bigger one built in a place where they get lots of snow and buses stop running. I volunteer at one of hospitals and there has been a protest but as usual nobody listens. It's all to do with money not patient care, the staff give an excellent service, such a shame people nowadays are motivated by how much money they make out of projects and the people are forgotten. We need a health service that's run by the people for the people, not bureaucrats getting back handers for giving out contracts.

Good old Capita - worthless, pointless and yet somehow manages to bribe its way into securing contracts.

I’m not sure if I’m correct but I think Capita is the firm paid millions by the government to stop disabled people having their benefits. They or the DSS asked a one armed man if he thought his arm would grow back soon! That’s a few years ago.😳

It of course has nothing to do with them having a Conservative Peer as a non-executive Director, no of course not.

@tradertall

I am no fan of Capita, privatisation or the outsourcing of public services to private companies

Nor am I a fan of the spreading of rumours or fake news. Please can you supply a reference for your claim that Capita have just been awarded this contract, because I can find no other reference to it in the recent news.

Not sure if this link will work as it's the FT same as @tradertall but it's says 2015.
@tradertall please put links up that people don't have too pay for, I have read your article it dates to 2015 so it's 3 nearly 4 years out of date.
