Article 13 *cough* *cough*

Seriously though if you don't know about article 13 I would google it, it could mean the end of YouTube 😱
My son was having a meltdown about it earlier o-o

@o__o I'm afraid that's fake news.

Article 13 is about empowering content owners and creators to protect their intellectual property, not shutting down YouTube or banning memes.

Except that it is not fake news

Here is a video put out on an official YouTube channel (so is basically from the owners Google) explaining the issues

@snenklehen yeah I've seen the video.

It's YouTube bellyaching because it's gonna make them liable for the intellectual property infringement which is rampant on their platform and they really don't like this as they depend heavily on people uploading content they don't have the rights to.

Nothing else.

So you know better than one of the largest companies in the world, with a dedicated army of legally trained minds who will have picked this legislation apart.

You are so clever

No @snenklehen I've just don't have to spin a story to protect an illegitimate business model like they do.

I repeat what I have said numerous times before on this, only companies hosting intellectual property for which they have not obtained the rights or permission to host have anything to worry about from Article 13 of the EUCD.

Google have made their stance clear, they will just block half of the content from getting to the EU so they basically will get half an internet

It's a simple solution for them, they are just pointing out what a monumental **** up this legislation is

And if they do that @snenklehen then that's on Google, not the EU.

As I keep saying, only companies hosting intellectual property for which they have not obtained the rights or permission to host have anything to worry about from Article 13 of the EUCD.

It doesn't affect companies who observe and respect intellectual property laws at all.

Sorry complying with legislation is on them not the EU? what are you talking about?

All that content will be totally legal in the rest of the world (maybe not North Korea)
