Essentially, the government is planning for a new deal Brexit.
Now, if only someone could have warned us...
Japan seeking big concessions from Britain in trade talks
@sarahaxon: when I said the government is planning for a no deal Brexit, it is clear that we are just going to fall over the edge on the rock below.
@becalel: if only someone had given Brexit a moment of serious thought before embarking on this doomed enterprise.
If you close your eyes, those words could almost come out of the mouth of Donald Trump.
I'll concede that, but they really are the most Panglossian take on the whole sorry business.
From the very beginning they were selling lies to buy support. There's just nothing more to it (apart from millions to be made in speculation once the economy crashes), but May's only aim is to stay in power. Either by pushing her deal through at the last minute and proclaiming herself a saviour or by letting us to crash out and then blaming the EU and the Opposition.
In the meantime Corbyn's scheme is to tie her hands so that we do crash out and then he can blame her for no deal Brexit and try to seize the power on the back of the country's utter misery. I mean by now, looking at the polls, he knows that whatever he offers as policies, simply hardly speaks to anyone.
If that is Corbyn's plan, he is even more deluded than Theresa May.
