If a customer is not happy then they will go somewhere else, and tell their friends to go elsewhere too.

It's a package.

Make sure whatever you are selling is good quality and good value.

If a customer complains about something then really listen to what they say - give a refund without question if appropriate, and change your product or service if necessary.

Repeat custom (where practicable) and good recommendations / reviews. 😃

If you're selling goods or services that someone wants at a good price and they don't feel you're ripping them off, that's customer satisfaction.

I worked with the public all my life, Bank. Building Society and Funeral business. Always did my best to sort problems out because the customer will appreciate a good service and come back plus its good advertising for the company.
Nowadays its all changed some people who work with the public have a different attitude, if you treat people right they respond better. Attitudes are important, I like to think I'm a nice person but people with bad attitudes make me bristle,so I would walk away and take my business elsewhere.
Just my opinion

Is it when the customer is satisfied they've been ripped off?

Customer satisfaction to me is, going that extra mile to ensure the customer is happy with their product/s they have purchased and the service given  is  polite and professional.

If you value your customers, nothing is to much trouble.
