Brexit is overshadowing various policy disasters, including UK's plans for a new "fleet" of nuclear power stations:

- Hinkley Point: running 8 years late, mega-expensive

- Moorside: dropped by Toshiba in November

- Wylfa: Hitachi set to abandon on Monday

 

What makes this politically toxic is the only companies with deep pockets still keen to build Wylfa and Moorside are Chinese state-controlled... but Number 10 has already signalled unease about that...

 

Tim Yeo, a former Tory minister, said the UK government now had a choice of “China or nothing” if it wanted to proceed with its nuclear plans.
