A tradition manipulating you to the point where you' re going into debt just to show someone you love them.

I think a bard of the sixties and seventies described it well and I paraphrase "Ancient rituals on ancient dates all designed to make you feel great" Then add a sh*tload of consumerism and that's Christmas for the over tens.

It needs to be got rid really as its bad for business and everyone is gearing down and taking time off all at the same time.

That would be the pagan feast of the winter solstice....

 

Then Christianity kind of stole the date and the festival for this Jesus bloke, albeit centuries after ''the birth' long after 'the miracles', etc. could be proven or disproven to be nothing but folklore.
