The Romans really messed up,if they had just given him life in prison religion would have died away into the sunset.
But sad to say, someone was looking to write a blockbuster and made everything up,so it was always gonna be a lose lose situation what ever way you look at it.

Was and still is a pagan holiday.

Nobody has to celebrate and if the consumerism bothers you that's all to do with Santa and nothing to do with Christianity.

@acetech well said If you go back to ww2 we had no toys for Christmas there was nothing toyish in the shops,
but we had fun   we made Christmas decorations out of newspaper and painted them and there was no Turkeys or chickens or anything like  we eat now. but it did not matter you listened to the radio or someone would play songs on the piano we played cards or did old jigsaws so be happy for our life now.

A tradition manipulating you to the point where you' re going into debt just to show someone you love them.

She wasn't homeless and nowhere does it say that she was a teenager

I wonder what they had in them days before

Well here in northern Europe, winter solstace celebrations in the hopes that the sun would return and to eat up all of the food that would go off by spring.

If you think that the powers that be wouldn't still have had a religion to control the masses, then you are sadly mistaken. It would have just been a different one Smiley Frustrated
