Activation of NEW SIM

Hey everyone, can anyone point me in the correct direction? I have just received a NEW SIM card from giffgaff. I have entered the activation code into the website. But nothing happens at all?

DO I NEED to insert the NEW giffgaff SIM into my phone before activating the SIM?

As you have just activated then this takes a little while and can be upto 24 hours to complete however it can be sooner, so please wait a little longer and you will soon be up and running….please do insert the sim into your phone and restart your phone every hour or so… don’t worry this is the normal procedure. A confirmation email will be sent to you.


You'll then see the "Congratulations. You made it!" screen to confirm it. You'll then be invited to use the Setup Wizard. This last step is very important as it is used to make sure your phone settings are correct, so you'll be able to use Internet and MMS.

After this done then still be with in 24 hrs anytime the sim be ready to use that can be once the number giffgaff give to use shows on >>


Should at lease be able to call/text out and receive when sim fully activated.

Giffgaff internet settings for internet over 3/4g connection may need to enter manually to device when not auto installed when put giffgaff sim in device >>

Yes, insert the sim into the phone the a signal can be sent to activate the sim card.

The SIM does not have to be in a phone to complete the first part of the activation process.


If you enter the 6 digit activation code and absolutely nothing happens (or the page simply refreshes so you have to start over) when you click/tap on "Activate your SIM", try clearing your browser's cache then closing and reopening your browser session before trying again.


If still no joy, and  you are attempting the activation from a mobile data connection / mobile browser, try using a laptop / desktop browser instead.


If you are seeing an error message, please post the full and exact wording.
