@judju38 Most new giffgaff SIM activations are 30 minutes however, during busy times can take up to 24 hours.
During the SIM activation process i suggest you turn the phone off and on again periodically every 30 minutes.
You can check if your SIM has been activated by logging in to My giffgaff page here http://www.giffgaff.com/dashboard . When the SIM is activated, your new allocated number will be displayed below your username and your airtime credit or goodybag bundle will also be shown.
If the SIM is not activated after 24 hours contact a giffgaff agent so they can verify the status of the SIM activation.
When filling in the giffgaf form please include: - Your name - Your giffgaff membername - The 6 digit Activation Code and - The 13 or 19 digit SIM Serial Number (SSN) printed on the SIM itself (right before 3Ggg/4Ggg).
It can take up to 24 hours for a giffgaff agent to respond (agents work 7 days a week from 8am to 11pm).
You will see when an agent has replied in the "Messages: From Agents" box which can be found half way down the right hand side of your "My Giffgaff" page or you can access it direct here https://giffgaff.com/support/questions

I'm adding tis info. to help you through the process. ***ACTIVATING SIM: When activated your new phone number will be shown*** Follow the instructions on the card attached to the new SIM & wait up to 24 hours (usually 30 minutes). Switch the phone on & off a couple of times. When activated you should see Giffgaff in the top left-hand corner of your phones screen.
