Can receive text but cannot send or make calls

Tonight I have activated sim and completed the APN information.  I can receive text messages but cannot send message or make phone calls.  I am doing this on my daughters phone which is a Samsung and I am not really familiar with it as I have iphone.  I have tried taking out the sim and waiting 5 mins and this does not appear to have solved the problem as suggested on previous messages.  I wonder if you have any other recommendations on what else I can try?  Thanks.

Have you  rebooted your phone to kick-start everything

hi , which sorts of numbers are you trying to call or text ,could they be none giffgaff numbers and you might have purcahsed a gigabag for your daughter ? (data only goodybag ? )

what's returned when you dial the shortcodes
*100# and *100*7#

can you dial 43430 OK ?

It sounds as if you have bought data time rather than a goodybag which allows you to talk

Restart your phone. Activations could take upto 24 hours to activate fully.

Policy is an agent will remove a wrongly applied bag and put the credit spent, back as airtime credit if you've activated the sim within the last 30 days
And you've used less than 20mb and 5 minutes of calls
Outside of those proviso and it's at the agents discretion

Put the details of your mistake and request in the box provided

If the agent agrees to remove the bag, watch out for a text alert to indicate the bag has been removed and the credit refunded
