Can't get the phone working

Hi,

Joined yesterday and still can't get the phone to work (24h later). No Internet, no sms, can't make calls...

- Have an iphone 4s from 02. 

- Phone unlocked by O2

- Sim activation successful "Just confirming your activation was successful."

- Have a new phone number.

- Bought a £12 goodybag and have £5 credit.

- Installed the Internet settings described on this forum for my phone and OS.

- It says O2-UK and 3G on the screen, good coverage.

- SMS's aren't delivered.

- Can't call, just get a bipbip and then it cuts off.

- No Internet when I disable wi-fi. 

- Removed SIM and rebooted multiple times

- Reset settings and added again.

 

Is it an issue with the SIM? How can I test the SIM?

Can you get hold of another handset (unlocked or locked to O2) in which to test your SIM?

Check that your phone is not in Flight Mode.

You need to try the sim in another phone to see if the sim is working as it should and also try if possible another GG sim in your phone

Thanks, tested but didn't help. Will have to try to test the SIM on another phone.

Please follow the below steps to the letter if you are facing network issues in your area -
hope this helps.

1, See if theres any faults here by typing in your post code @ giff.ly/ggservice (alternative site - http://status.o2.co.uk) giffgaff operates as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator using the o2 / Telefonica Network
2, Turn On airplane mode ( if you have this option ) And then turn Off after about 20 seconds
[ Alternatively ] Take the battery out for 30 seconds and then place in back in and power On the handset Etc ( This option is not for iphones and any other phones that your carnt take or get the battery out the handset )
3, Try http://is.gd/manualroam
4, Hand clean the sim Very Soft

You are having problems with sending or receiving SMS/texts then this trick might resolve the problem.

1. Go to settings 2. Then go to mobile networks 3. Select a network other than O2 (gg) i.e orange or tmobile. 4. Come out of settings and it should say no network coverage or something similar. 5. Repeat the process this time choosing O2 (gg) which should update the message centre and hopefully restart the texts.

The message centre number in your message settings should be +447802002606

On an iphone then it's a slightly different process.

1. Go to settings 2. Go to carriers 3. Switch off automatic and manually change the carrier to something other then O2-UK i.e vodafone or orange. 4. Come out of settings and wait until it fails to connect to the other carrier. 5. Once it fails repeat the process and this time choose O2-UK
