Hi,

I was wanting to use my mobile phone (Nokia E5-00, GiffGaff sim) to connect my laptop to the internet. I have connected the phone using the Nokia software but says I can't connect to the internet.

Is it even possible to do this?

Do I need some special settings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't really want to buy a dongle then have to get another sim.

Thanks

You can do that, I'm not sure how but you MUST use a gigabag or your in risk of being blocked.

This is tethering and is against the T&C's if you are using a normal mobile plan and not a gigabag.

You need to use a gigabag/PAYG credit or you will be banned for tethering

You can only do this on PAYG or worth a gigabag. It's against the T&Cs for a normal goodybag.

Have you configured your phone with the giffgaff internet settings? Can you connect to the internet directly on your phone?

Can access the Internet on the phone? You might need to put the GG settings in then try again. You only do this using a GIGABAG or credit otherwise you risk a data ban.

Didn't realise about the tethering issue!

I think i'll give it a miss, thanks all.

Don't suppose it would have made a difference as GiffGaff seems to be so slow and a poor signal.

I'll stick to the Wi-Fi hotspots and all security issues!!!
