Data not working

4G sign is shown, have restarted am turned of phone. Calls and texts go through. Data has not been working since yesterday. Have tried sim in another iPhone still the same

I suggest you start by Reseting your Network Settings.

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

And then follow the steps below to configured the iPhone manually with the correct APN/Data settings.

Go to Settings
Go to Mobile (or Cellular)
Go to Mobile (or Cellular) Data
Under Mobile (or Cellular) Data Network enter the following

APN - Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Login - Username: giffgaff
Password: [leave blank]

If your still unable to use the data check the service status in your area by following this https://giffgaff.com/coverage-and-service link.

The network status should give you details of any local issues, including planned work, as well as showing signal strength (2G, 3G & 4G) & outages.
Please remember that the website is updated hourly and may not display any issues at the current moment.

If the signal looks all good, you also try performing a manual roam by following this http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/Force-the-change-of-SMS-settings/ta-p/4871794 guide that allows you to select the network manually.

Also, switch off your phone for a couple of minutes and back on again to see if that helps.

You could also be in a bad area for receiving a good Signal/Service if it is fine at other locations (if all of my info hasn't solved it)


• If A Mast Is Down In Your Area •

● This is no fault of giffgaffs,this would also effect members on the O2 network and anything that's run with O2 in your area so it's down to the O2 repair team to fix it and to update there website,the O2 website gets updated every hour so it's best to keep checking it or you could search the O2 forums within your area search and see if there's a clearer explanation.

You could have a sim failure  It's rare but possible. Turn off imessage and iTunes and reboot then resync after the reboot  Go to settings /mobile networks /access point names and they should look like this 

Connection name: giffgaff

APN: giffgaff.com

Proxy: Not set

Port: Not Set

Username: giffgaff

Password: [leave blank]

Server: Not set

MMSC:http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002

MMS proxy: 82.132.254.1

MMS port: 8080

MCC: 234

MNC: 10

Authentication Type:"PAPor CHAP"

APN type:default,supl,mms

APN protocol: IPv4

APN roaming protocol:IPv4

Bearer: Unspecified

MVNO type: IMSI

MVNO value: 23410x . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . also remember to click save once you have entered these setting an restart phone

If this is correct remove all other apns

Check your signal as you need at least 4 bars for 4g and also chech your credit to see if your data has run out. If it is the sim consider obtaining a new one either online or from Iceland or a supermarket and do a sim swap. 

Check your local mast for low power here

Try the handset in a town centre to see if it performs in a high signal area
