Hi I have just activated my SIM with £5 goodybag and turned off top ups and turned off recurring goodybag.

But my account shows:

My goodybags

Active

500 MB data

150 minutes

500 texts

30 days left

I was under the impression that the £5 credit would last at least 180 days - and longer if I use the phone to make chargeable calls? So why does the account page say 30 days?

Thanks,

The option to add airtime credit is hidden at the bottom of the list of goodybags.

The minimum airtime credit amount is £10, so you will have to add another £10 credit to your account and then raise a support ticket to ask for the goodybag to be cancelled and refunded.

It sounds like you bought a goodybag, Airtime credit and goodybags are two different things.

A goodybag is a bundle which contains a quota of UK minutes, texts and data. goodybags last for one month e.g 30 days.

Where as airtime credit(pay as you go credit) never expires and only get used up when you make use of. However, To keep a giffgaff sim active you'll need to do at least one of the following once every six months:

- make at least one call, SMS or MMS to another number (not including calls to emergency services )
- make at least one connection to the Internet
- make at least one airtime credit or goodybag purchase

You can check out this https://giffgaff.com/support/top-up-and-balance/credits-and-goodybags-purchase link to learn more about airtime credit and goodybags.

Once a goodybag goes live, it is active for 30 days. Normal airtime balance remains available until used up at PAYG rates or to buy a goodybag with it, subject to at least one chargeable event against it once every 6 months to prevent number recycling. If you have switched off recurring goodybags, the one indicated above will probably be your last recurring goodybag purchase, and you would then have to purchase normal airtime balance to fund everything. Goodybags and airtime are entirely separate.

Hi @aqua_ub

It looks like you have a goodybag, not credit.

A goodybag is a normal pay monthly plan.

To buy credit, hover over your account name at the top and choose 'Add credit'.

You can contact an agent to refund your £5 goodybag.

You can contact a giffgaff agent at this link: https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/Top-up-balances-and-goodybags/Cancelling-a-goodybag-or-top-up-...

When you get a response (usually within 1-2 hours, but can be up to 24 hours), you should receive a text and email alert telling you. You can view the response either from the bottom of your giffgaff dashboard, or by clicking this link: https://giffgaff.com/support/questions

If you still need help, feel free to reply to my message and mention me @mrjeeves

Thanks,
David

You have purchased a £5 goodybag - a bundle of calls, texts and data valid for one month.

Airtime credit is not time-limited.  180 days is the period in which you must make a call, send a text, use mobile data or add credit or goodybag to keep your SIM active and prevent termination of your SIM with the loss of your number and account balance.

So it looks like I shouldn't have bought a goodybag to activate the SIM, but airtime credit instead.

However is this even possible? On the SIM activation page as I recall it was just showing me goodybags of various costs.

Is it possible to have the sales people converty my unused goodybag to airtime credit intead?

As has been mentioned you have bought a bundle (we call them goodybags), the minimum credit topup is £10 and this last as long as you keep the account active (sending one text every 6 months for example).

If you haven't used the goodybag, you can ask for a refund and then topup £10

>>> The option to add airtime credit is hidden at the bottom of the list of goodybags.<<<

Thanks, but GRRR. Why hide it?

I shall try cancelling and reactivating but this is a PITA as I have already budgeted for £5 per SIM. (This is for work purposes.)

In the case of multiple SIM cards can I transfer some credit to other SIMs and if so what is the minimum transfer amount - still £10 units,. or is it lower?
