Hi,

I own an iPhone 4S and I have all of the correct Internet settings and I have 3G turned on but I hardly every recieve it? I have heard that O2 isn't a very good network but surely the 3G reception can't be this bad. I live in Flintshire nr Chester UK, a large city.

Many Thanks,

Ryan

If these issues have been affecting mainly today there is a good reason 3G has sucked today.

GiffGaff have been expericing a data outage since this morning and have resolved the issue.  See here: http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Service-Updates-Notice-board/Resolved-Loss-of-Data-Issue-20-10-2012...  if you are still experiencing an issue try switching the phone off and back on again. This refreshes your sim on the netwok and may sort you out Smiley Happy

Poor Network / No Signal Received

Have a read of

O2 Status and Coverage
Check the O2 status and coverage:

O2 status: http://bit.ly/o2status
O2 coverage: http://bit.ly/o2coverage

Restart/Reboot/Reset
A quick restart and/or a reboot of the device can help you get reception on your phone. If these don't help then sometimes you may need to restore the device to factory settings (how it was when you took it out of the box) but then you will need to reinput your internet settings.

Airplane/Offline Mode
Turning the device into airplane/offline mode and back into normal mode can, a lot of the time, get you a bar or two of reception in bad coverage areas but also full reception if it just a temporary network issue!

You have to manually change the settings on your iphone to use internet & MMS. For giffgaff settings Press SETTINGS, then GENERAL, then

NETWORK, then CELLULAR DATA NETWORK and enter the following settings:-

Cellular Data

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password

Visual Voicemail (Just Leave as is) giffgaff is not an official carrier

so it will not work

MMS

APN: giffgaff.com

Username: giffgaff

Password: password

MMSC: http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc

MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080

Max message size: 2097152

MMS UA Prof URL: just leave blank
