@kartac2016

 Hi,

 You will have unwittingly subscribed to a Premium Rate Text Number.

 If you have sent the text have with the word STOP,they should not take any further sums.

 Also there will be a Call Centre Number towards the bottom of the message.

 Ring that and demand they remove your details from their subscription list and refund all credit taken.

 Until they agree to this do as  @lynda1962  has suggested and keep your Airtime Credit below the sum they want to take.

 I hope you get this sorted out quickly.

@kartac2016, hi there,  don't top up airtime credit then they can't take your money from you, buy goodybags until it's sorted out they will give up trying after a couple of goes.

I have same problem at moment and in a dilemma. Trouble with this solution is I need to put credit on to be able to send STOP, minimum amount u can top up is £10. That leaves plenty airtime credit for them to take. I've read so many posts saying that texting Stop doesn't work, all part of the scam.

@carolyn_byrom

You will need to send stop to the shortcode number OR contact the landline number included in the text.

You can also enter the number http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/about-us/number-checker to find further information regarding the company.

Thanks tazzy19. I tried looking up the number (03308080653) but there is no information available for it. I can't ring it without putting airtime credit on my phone so same dilemma. The only thing I can think of is to cancel Giffgaff account altogether and go elsewhere.

Its outrageous that service providers like Giffgaff don't take any responsibility for refunding these spam text messages. I received one today and was robbed of £4.50. it to was 83463. The company is a UK company Remote Games Ltd, who have plenty of cash on their balance sheet probably resulting from these thefts. Even worse Giffgaff share the proceeds. No other major online service operate like this. Amazon, Paypal and Ebay will take the customers word and issue a refund. They are not expected to negotiate with crooks to get their money back. I would love to know how much money these robberies are making for Giffgaff and the robbers.
