There are various ways to do it:

5-6:

07123 123456

5-3-3

07123 123 456

And with international code:

+44 7123 123456

or

+44 (0)7123 123456 <--- I think this is the most correct way to do it. Personally, I prefer to split the last 6 digits into 3-3 for clarity when reading.

07xxxxxxxxx

or

00447xxxxxxxxx

or

+447xxxxxxxxx

no brackets, no dashes.

It is usually just written 07517XXXXXX or +447517XXXXXX

but when speaking I would say: 07517 XXX XXX

Hope that helped!

Landlines are the code normally first then the number as 3 digits then 4. Eg for Manchester it is 0161 code then your number after.  Working on this with the 11 mobile digits I normally use the first 5 digits as a code then 3 digits then 3 digits.  Made me think though!!

Technically, it doesn't matter when you type in the numbers. However, it does matter when it comes down to legibility - 07517123456 is just a pain to read!
