I recently lost my phone and elected for the SIM swap as I had a spare SIM lying around, so I now have my old number on a new SIM card in a new phone. Is there any way I can now bar my old phone?

Hi hezier sorry to hear about that

You can contact the agents and manualy quote your IMEI number here: http://giffgaff.com/support/ask

The agents will reply within 24 hours...usually much quicker

Your IMEI number can be found on the box your handset came with. This bar will prevent cellular use of your handset

I don't see this being straightforward. The current lost/stolen procedure only allows two options.
1 - bar SIM only
2 - bar phone and SIM

So if you do a simswap and start using a new phone it puts you in a tricky position. You don't wanna bar the wrong phone, nor block your SIM.

So I would contact an agent to deal with this manually. I can't find a simple way to explain this situation ( and the menu is risky ), so try this "workround" -

Select 30 from the drop down list (don't worry about the SIM quantity stuff).
Use the comment box to fully explain your issue. Be very careful with your words, as you don't want to bar the wrong phone by accident. Ideally provide the IMEI of the phone to be barred.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have managed to locate my IMEI number and have contacted an agent to ask them to bar the phone, and have included the IMEI number in my message to hopefully avoid confusion!

Am still hoping the lost phone will turn up but better to be safe than sorry, also I believe I can request that the phone be un-barred if I subsequently find it again, so long as I can provide the IMEI?

Absolutely. giffgaff will bar the phone on your account with your IMEI, and only they can lift the bar if requested from only your giffgaff account Smiley Happy

Yes, phones can be unbarred, but it can take 5 working days while the nationally used database used by all networks is updated.

I dont think so the simswap option may have eliminated the possibility but try asking an agent

I doubt if you will be able to do it now.

Still Please contact an Agent @ - http://bit.ly/giffgaffagent
you'll have a 24 hour wait for the agent.
