Hi,

I've been using a Nokia 6.1 for 8 weeks with a Giffgaff nano SIM.

Today I missed a call and the caller left voicemail. I hit the button for voicemail and it tried calling 901 and cut off.

I have been with GiffGaff for years. I know that the voicemail number is 443.

But when I go into phone settings and delete 901 and put 443 in as the voicemail number it refuses to save the change. It gives the error

Call Settings Error

Could not change voicemail number. Contact your operator if this problem persists.

Any advice gratefully received.

@nicola4281
Some phones do not recognise giffgaff as a service provider so, it sounds like your phone is configured to O2's voicemail number(901). To access giffgaff voicemail you will need to dial 443.
The call to voicemail costs 1 minute from goodybag minutes or 8p if you only have airtime credit regardless the length of the call.

Other voicemail options:
To Switch on voicemail: Dial 1616
To Switch off voicemail: Dial 1626

As @bilal86440 has said @nicola4281 some phones don’t recognise giffgaff as a network provider and so default your voicemail to O2’s.

You could check that you have the correct - ie giffgaff’s - APN settings and if not install them - see here for details of how to do it

https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Settings-for-your-device/Internet-and-MMS-settings-APN-guide/ta-p/...

and see if that then lets your phone accept 443 as your voicemail.

If this doesn’t work then another option to enable you to get to it speedily would be to add 443 into your contacts and then allocate that number to a speed dial key assuming your phone allows this.

Voicemail/Answer Phone.

If it's enabled disable it and reboot the phone and then reneable it and reboot the phone again. If it's disabled enable it and reboot the phone.

Voicemail

1616 on

1626 off

To access your voicemail then simply dial 443.

To increase the amount of rings before voicemail

**61*443 *10*amount of seconds# followed by SEND –
Amount of time in increments of 5 secs maximum 30

So, dial **61*443*10*20# to increase to 20 seconds

To stop calls being diverted to Voicemail, dial and call ##002# to cancel the all diverts.

Note:If in your contacts list the GiffGaff Voicemail number is not 443 edit to 443 and save.

Cost: If you have a goodybag 1 minute of call time will be deducted. If you only have airtime credit you will be charged 8p per call. If you have neither you will not be able to access your voicemail from your phone.

On a lot of modern,"Smart Phones" long press the 1 key on the Phone dial pad for quick Voicemail access or if restricted hand use and Google voice is installed click the Mic and say,"Call 443"

There is no way to change it @nicola4281 It's the case with the current Nokia range and some other phones.

As suggested, for convenience set up 443 as a contact when you want to disl voicemail.
