Internet Data abroad

Hello, folks.

I am in Italy now and I know I should be able to use my British giffgaff SIM as usual. While I can make calls and write and receive sms, I cannot use my Internet data. Therefore my phone is not online unless I am in a house connected to the wi-fi.

Another friend of mine, in the same region of Italy and with a Giff Gaff card, can access his Internet Data.

Does anybody have a solution for this?

It's simply likely your phone is not correctly configured for mobile data abroad.

For mobile data abroad, you need ALL of the following phone settings. Compare with your friend on giffgaff side by side:

• Correct giffgaff APN settings: http://giff.ly/gg_settings
It’s likely that your phone has the O2 APN which works for data in the UK but not abroad. It must be the giffgaff APN for mobile data abroad.

• 'Data roaming' turned on. Note this is a specific phone setting and is usually turned off by default.

• Mobile data turned on.

Specifically check the APN and 'data roaming' settings, as these are the most common reasons.

Before you can use the mobile data with the giffgaff SIM you will need to configure the phone with the data settings manually. Follow this https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Settings-for-your-device/Internet-and-MMS-settings-APN-guide/ta-p/... link to manually configure your phone with the correct data settings.

The link contains settings for the most popular devices on the market e.g. iOS(iPhone, iPad), Android, Windows, Blackberry etc.

Hi, there,
yes, thanks, it worked. MCC and MCN were already fine, but I had to change the name and the APN.
