I have taken a look at your account and can confirm that you do not have any bar preventing you from accessing the internet

Sorry I have confused things by posting as davidb1. He is my husband and I've been setting up both our phones on giffgaff and was logged into to his account when I read and replied to isabel1066's post. What a day!
Noticed no-one has really answered your questions about the bits in red in your post above. Don't worry about MNC and MCC - that is just the O2 network international identifier codes which will be picked up anyway. I've only ever seen them on android phones as fields.
If there's no field for proxy port then try leaving proxy server address blank too or try writing it the proxy server address as 18.104.22.168:8080 which is the way you write the server and port as 1.
Thank you, I'm glad to know the information in red was not essential. The good news is that I have been on and off the internet this evening dabbling with the phone and had no problems with getting connected. I can only guess that maybe the signal was the problem because I haven't changed any of the settings since my original post!
