There are two options which you need to turn off if you don't want money automatically taken. Both can be checked at https://giffgaff.com/profile/payment-details

  • recurring goodybags buys you the same goodybag every month. You can turn it off. If you can't see it at https://giffgaff.com/profile/payment-details it means it is already off -- but if you subsequently buy a goodybag at https://giffgaff.com/buy/goodybag you will again see the option to recur the goodybag and should make sure it's off if that's not what you want
  • auto topup -- automaticaly buys credit (default is £10) when your balance outside your goodybag falls below £3. That credit is used to pay for anything not covered by a goodybag -- outgoing international calls, roaming charges, MMS, calls to special rate numbers etc. If you don't expect to use it, turn it off.

Concerning the payment you've already made -- you can ask an agent. Refunds are at their discretion and not guaranteed. But they will often try to help new members that make these mistakes. Ask at https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/Top-up-balances-and-goodybags/Cancelling-a-goodybag-or-top-up-... -- Agents aim to reply within 24 hours but often sooner and you need to look in https://giffgaff.com/support/questions for the answer
