After about six months of inactivity your number would have been recycled, there's no way to recover it as far as I'm aware

Thanks for replies.

That's a bit harsh. So does that mean someone else gets my number as iv had it for years

Yes that's right. As there are not enough mobile numbers to go around, any that are unused for 6 months or longer are released into the pool of free numbers for someone else to use.

To keep a giffgaff SIM and account active, please see here under "Your SIM or account has been inactive for too long" https://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Using-giffgaff/I-have-no-signal-why/ta-p/7435702#section2

Yes your right about sending a text, if only I'd known. Really annoyed about that. Iv tried calling my number and message says iv dialled an incorrect number, I take it that it hasn't been issued to anyone and there's a chance I can get it back?

@sirfaraz
Good Morning,
Sorry it will not be possible to get your old number back.
With with regards to the 6 months inactivity period, giffgaff are quite generous, some networks have a 3 months period of non activity then automatically remove number.

@sirfaraz
Hi, could you give a guess on when you last used your sim?
(outgoing call, text, data usage)

What do you hear exactly when you call your number?

Did you receive any emails from giffgaff, warning you that your number /sim was about to be deactivated?
