Since obtaining my giffgaff sim I have been sent another for 'my friends'.

Can I activate this and use it in my vodafone dongle as a 'data only' sim?

Dont know quuite how I ended up with that title.  The vodafone dongle uses a standard sim.

You can but remember giffgaff runs on the 02 network so your dongle will have to be unlocked.

Hi @kencain,  As @headcases said, you will have to set up another account to do that.  The rule here is that each SIM is tied to a unique account with a different 'user name'.  I have two SIMs myself, one in a spare phone.  Different accounts can share the same email address, same bank or credit card details etc., the only thing that must be different is the account name.

Also, be careful on the community.  You are allowed only one account here, although the other new account could be used you will be penalised if they find out it's the same person.  They don't want you 'bigging yourself up' across two accounts!

For a 'data only SIM' you will only want to buy gigabags. Don't make the rookie mistake of confusing them with goodybags.

I kudo good posts because I like to share the love.

Your dongle needs to work on o2 network or fully unlocked to all networks for it to accept giffgaff simcard:

Thanks for all your replies. I have another SIM now but just need to confirm with vodafone that my dongle is unlocked.  That is harder than you would imagine. Their customer service is terrible.
