Hi all,

Can someone please confirm (or not) that I am able to use my existing sim for mobile data in my laptop and just use credit rather than a goody/gigabag?

I won't use it very often so don't really want to have a recurring payment. I would rather chuck £10 on a top up and it may last 1 month or 6.

Thanks for any help Smiley Happy

Yes you can pop your sim in a laptop as long as you are not on the unlimited goodybag.

Price is 20p for the 1st 20mb then 20p per 1mb after.

Or consider a gigabag? https://giffgaff.com/gigabags

Yes, you can use airtime credit on your account for tethering or hotspot purposes. You can also use limited data goodybags and gigabags for tethering or hotspot.
Only goodybags with unlimited data cannot be used for tethering or hotspot as this is against Giffgaff's terms and conditions.

Also, you must use your sim atleast once every 6 months in order for your sim and number to stay active Smiley Happy

Hello yes you can do that, perfectly fine Smiley Happy

However, if you don't have a goodynag running, it may be cheaper to buy a gigabag to go in your laptop. It's £5 for 500mb and £7.50 for 1gb. However, if you already have a running goodybag, you will just have to use credit.

Hi there @wendash3
Yes of course you can just top up whenever it suits you and if you dont want to buy a goodybag or gigabag, thats also fine.
Please check out giffgaff's fantastic pay and go rates here https://giffgaff.com/index/pricing

You can. But just to let you know that its very unlikely that £10 AIRTIME CREDIT will last you 1month if your using it for DATA usage on your laptop. It won't even last 1 month on a phone. Obviously it depends how much you use it but its unlikely to last that long. Personally i think it will last 2 days max. It would probably be cheaper for you to get a wifi connection and a monthly charge of £7.50 e.g with SKY or another broadband provider.

Make sure all updates, including antivirus updates, are disabled on the laptop. This month's Microsoft Updates were 183MB. That would be a lot more than £10 on PAYG.
